Presentation

Does the manuscript present a coherent, scientifically grounded, and practically relevant argument? Are the ideas clearly, logically, and systematically organized?

Writing Quality

Does the title accurately represent the manuscript? Is the writing concise, precise, academically appropriate, grammatically correct, and easy to follow?

Length and Organization

Which parts of the manuscript should be expanded, removed, condensed, summarized, reorganized, or combined to improve clarity, scientific rigor, practical relevance, and scholarly contribution?

Title

Is the title concise, informative, and representative of the study’s principal variables, population, intervention, context, or main finding? Does it avoid unnecessary expressions, implicit terms, and unexplained abbreviations?

Abstract

Does the abstract clearly include:

  • The background and aim or purpose of the study;
  • The research design, participants, setting, intervention, instruments, and analytical techniques;
  • The principal results, including relevant statistical findings where applicable; and
  • The main conclusion, contribution, and practical implications?

Introduction

Does the introduction clearly describe:

  • The background and significance of the study in sport science, physical education, exercise science, coaching, or human performance;
  • The state of the art and relevant previous research;
  • The theoretical, empirical, methodological, or practical research gap;
  • A clear statement of novelty or original contribution;
  • The theoretical or conceptual framework underpinning the study;
  • The research questions and/or hypotheses, where relevant;
  • The approach used to address the identified research problem; and
  • The aim and specific objectives of the study?

Method

  • Is the research design described clearly enough to permit scientific evaluation and replication?
  • Does the section explain how the research was conducted rather than merely defining methodological or sport-related terms?
  • Are the research setting, participant characteristics, population, sample, sampling procedures, eligibility criteria, instruments, materials, and analytical techniques clearly reported?
  • Are relevant participant characteristics such as age, sex, training experience, competition level, health status, and physical condition reported where applicable?
  • For quantitative studies, are the variables, measurement instruments, validity, reliability, statistical techniques, effect sizes, confidence intervals, evaluation criteria, and validation procedures appropriately explained?
  • For experimental, intervention, or training studies, are the exercise protocols, duration, frequency, intensity, volume, recovery periods, supervision, adherence, control conditions, and progression procedures clearly described?
  • For human-performance studies, are the testing environment, equipment, calibration, warm-up, familiarization, measurement protocols, and performance indicators reported sufficiently?
  • For qualitative studies, are the participants, setting, data-collection procedures, interview or observation protocols, coding techniques, credibility strategies, and researcher reflexivity clearly explained?
  • For systematic or scoping reviews, are the databases, search strategies, keywords, eligibility criteria, screening procedures, quality assessment, and evidence-synthesis methods transparently reported?
  • Are ethical approval, informed consent, participant safety, confidentiality, injury-risk management, and research-permission procedures reported where applicable?

Results and Discussion

  • Are the results presented as systematically processed and analyzed data?
  • Are tables and figures relevant, readable, correctly numbered, and supported by clear titles, captions, units of measurement, and explanations?
  • Are descriptive statistics, statistical tests, effect sizes, confidence intervals, or qualitative findings reported accurately and completely?
  • Do the results directly address the research questions, hypotheses, or objectives stated in the Introduction?
  • Are the findings interpreted scientifically rather than merely restated?
  • Are the findings critically compared with relevant studies in sport science, physical education, exercise science, coaching, rehabilitation, or human performance?
  • Does the discussion explain agreements, differences, unexpected findings, and possible physiological, biomechanical, psychological, pedagogical, behavioral, or contextual mechanisms?
  • Does the manuscript explain its theoretical, methodological, practical, pedagogical, clinical, coaching, athletic-performance, organizational, or policy implications where relevant?
  • Does the study demonstrate how its findings can inform sport praxis, training design, physical education, athlete development, health promotion, rehabilitation, or human-performance enhancement?
  • Are the study limitations and potential threats to internal, external, construct, or statistical validity acknowledged clearly?
  • Are meaningful directions for future research or practical application provided?

Conclusion

Does the conclusion:

  • Directly answer the research objectives, questions, or hypotheses;
  • Synthesize the principal findings without merely repeating the Results section;
  • State the study’s scientific and practical contributions;
  • Provide realistic recommendations for athletes, coaches, teachers, practitioners, institutions, or policymakers where appropriate;
  • Avoid making claims that extend beyond the research design, sample, or evidence; and
  • Appear as a coherent paragraph rather than bullet points or numbering?

Scope Fit and Contribution to JSPHP

Does the manuscript clearly align with the scope of the Journal of Sport Praxis and Human Performance (JSPHP)? The journal welcomes original research, review articles, conceptual studies, and applied studies concerning sport science, sport praxis, physical education, exercise science, coaching, athletic training, strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor learning and control, sport psychology, sport nutrition, talent identification and development, physical activity, rehabilitation, sports medicine, performance analysis, and human-performance enhancement.

The journal also welcomes research concerning adaptive and inclusive sports, traditional sports, recreational sports, sport technology and innovation, athlete health and well-being, sport management, sport policy, sports facilities, sport tourism, and other interdisciplinary topics that contribute to the development of evidence-based sport practice and human performance.

Does the manuscript provide a clear theoretical, empirical, methodological, or practical contribution relevant to JSPHP’s readership? Does it explain how the findings can improve sport practice, physical education, coaching, athlete development, exercise prescription, rehabilitation, health promotion, decision-making, or human-performance outcomes?
